Fans of the popular Weather Channel learn about global climate change from meteorologists and research scientists, usually in 10- or 15-second sound bites. And, recently, former Vice President Al Gore received an Academy Award for his documentary "An Inconvenient Truth," which looks at his crusade to halt global warming.

Global warming will hit Europe hard but unevenly this century, causing drought, reduced harvests and deadly heatwaves in the south but inflicting more floods and severe winter storms farther north, UN experts say in a report to be unveiled next week.

The UN Climate Change panel is asserting — again — that humans are overheating the planet. Again, they have no evidence to support their claim — but they want the U.S. to cut its energy use by perhaps 80 percent just in case.

Bradbury to talk about climate change (The World)

The Climate Project, in conjunction with the South Coast Unitarian Univeralist Fellowship, will host a presentation by Oregon Secretary of State Bill Bradbury on climate change and global warming at 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Hales Center for the Performing Arts at Southwestern Oregon Community College, 1988 Newmark Ave., Coos Bay.
