Rajendra Pachauri will visit Antarctica in January at the invitation of Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg, Norway's government announced.  Pachauri, an Indian scientist, and Stoltenberg will stay at the Norwegian scientific station Troll as part of their visit, which will focus on climate change and polar research in a region where global warming is already having a significant impact.  The next report by the U.N. climate panel should deal with the "frightening" possibility that both Antarctic and Greenland ice sheets start significant melting, the chief U.N. climate scientist said.
