Warming drives off Cape Cod’s namesake

A commercial fishing boat passes Ram Island Ledge Light near Cape Elizabeth, Maine, on its way back to Portland Harbor. Fishermen have known for years that they've had to steam farther and farther from shore to find the cod, haddock and winter flounder that typically fill dinner plates in New England.

Record high temps are double the lows

The ratio of record daily highs to record daily lows was significantly higher in the last decade than in five previous ones, new research shows.Daily record high temperatures across the continental U.S. occurred twice as often as record lows over the last decade, researchers say, adding that it's a sign of a warming planet.
